James Van Der Beek Auctions Memorabilia to Fund Cancer Treatment
Actor James Van Der Beek is now selling memorabilia from the beloved 1990s series Dawson’s Creek to assist with his ongoing cancer treatment.
The 48-year-old has been facing stage 3 colorectal cancer since last year, which has significantly impacted both his personal and professional life. In a conversation earlier this year, Van Der Beek remarked that his treatment has become like a “full-time job,” hinting at the long road ahead: “It will probably be a process for the rest of my life.”
As reported, he has plans to team up with a prop store for an auction featuring various items from his personal collection related to Dawson’s Creek. The live auction is scheduled to take place from December 5th to 7th, 2025.
“This auction will showcase items never before seen by the public, including wardrobe pieces, props, and set artifacts that are tied to pivotal moments in my career,” the report stated. “All proceeds will be directed to help cover my cancer treatment costs.”
Among the items up for bid is the necklace that Dawson gifted Joey for prom, which is expected to fetch between $26,400 and $52,800. Additionally, Dawson’s pilot episode costume and other series memorabilia from 1998 to 2003 may reach bids close to $4,000.
Van Der Beek will also offer a hat from the movie Varsity Blues along with the cleats he wore during the film.
He shared, “I’ve held onto these items for years, waiting for the right moment to part with them, and given the recent changes in my life, it feels like now is that time.” There’s a bit of nostalgia tied to letting go of these treasures, but he believes it’s a meaningful way to connect with his supporters over the years.
The live bidding will kick off in London on December 6th, with online bids available starting December 7th.
Current and prospective bidders are welcome to register now.
