Jamie Raskin’s Threat To Foreign Leaders Might As Well Have Been Directed At Trump Supporters

Jamie Raskin is a Jan. 6 zealot.

The high-ranking Democrat, one of the seven who was appointed to the House Select Committee investigating the events of Jan. 6, believed that protesters acted as full-on insurrectionists who deserved to be punished as such. In the years that followed, he didn’t simply pay lip service to the Democratic Party’s narrative that Jan. 6 was the worst attack on American democracy since the Civil War; he truly believed it.  (Subscribe to MR. Raskin made the narrative a crucial part of his ideology and how he sees his fellow citizens: Anyone who doesn’t think that Jan. 6 was the beginning of the end of American democracy, anyone who would continue supporting President Trump after such a catastrophic assault on the Capitol, is nothing less than a fascist.

So it’s pretty alarming when someone like Jamie Raskin makes such an ominous threat about someone else who disagrees with him politically.

During a “Pod Save America” episode that aired, Raskin referenced El Salvador’s President Nayib Bukele and suggested that Democrats should keep score of foreign leaders who work with President Donald Trump. Bukele sparked outrage recently after he told reporters that he would not help return illegal alien Kilmar Abrego Garcia, whom the administration mistakenly deported but argues should remain in the Central American country.

“Implicit in it should be the idea that if and when we come back to power — and we will — we are not going to look kindly upon people who … facilitated authoritarianism in our country,” Raskin said.

The lawmaker also argued his party should engage “in far more work of transnational Democrat solidarity” to try and “prevent the spread of lawlessness and the fascist chaos that’s been unleashed against us.”

If Raskin thinks Bukele should be crushed by Democrats because he cozied up to Trump over one contentious issue, then what does he think should happen to Trump’s cabinet and all the other officials in his administration? What about Elon Musk and DOGE employees? What about the 77 million Americans who voted for Trump? What will happen to them?

Democrats waged endless lawfare against Trump, and already weaponized the intelligence state, created, of course, to fight foreign adversaries, not U.S. citizens, and the Department of Justice against Jan. 6 protesters.

But now, Raskin wants to up the ante, and if he thought the first Trump administration was bad enough to earn the ‘fascist’ label, there’s no telling how he will feel in 2026 or 2028.

We just know it won’t be good for anyone who disagrees with him.
