Jana Kramer Reflects on Career Choices and New Music Release
Jana Kramer has expressed mixed feelings about her career decisions, noting that, as the main provider for her children, she made choices necessary for their well-being. She acknowledges some regrets, particularly with past endorsements, admitting, “I hope I’m not doing that again. You learn from experiences and move on.”
In a light-hearted exchange with Jessie James Decker, Kramer was asked about a controversial commercial, to which she responded, “I wouldn’t do that again. You know what I mean?”
While discussing her responsibilities, Kramer mentioned that she pays child support to her ex-husband, Mike Caussin, emphasizing the weight of providing for their two children, Jolie, age 9, and Jace, age 6. “I carry a lot of pressure to take care of them,” she reflected.
Kramer, along with Decker, recently released a new single titled “Do It In Heels.” She shared that when she started writing it two years ago, her intention was to create an empowering “Girl Anthem” that was upbeat and fun. “I was so tired of the pain from my past,” she said. “I just wanted to enjoy writing something uplifting for women.”
When writing the song, Kramer thought of collaborating with Decker, noting their friendship. “I wasn’t sure if she’d want to be involved since we hadn’t worked together before,” she said, but decided to reach out anyway. Decker was enthusiastic about the project, stating, “Let’s do it. I loved everything about it.”
The two artists have shared a bond, initially confronting industry expectations of rivalry among female artists. Kramer recalled a conversation where she asked Decker, “Don’t you like me?” to which Decker replied, “No, I like you.” This moment solidified their friendship.
In discussing their collaboration, Decker praised Kramer, remarking, “She loves love and is incredibly strong, especially after everything she’s been through.” Kramer reflected that both her past and current relationships have imparted valuable lessons about self-worth.
As for their new single, Decker hopes that “Do It In Heels” inspires women to feel good about themselves. Kramer added, “Women are often too hard on themselves. It’s important to focus on the positive messages in our music.”
The empowering anthem “Do It In Heels” is now available for listeners. Kramer emphasized the importance of normalization in balancing personal growth and responsibilities. “As long as I keep healing and growing, I know I’ll continue to thrive,” she concluded.
