China’s Tactics in the AI Arms Race

Janet Kelly, CEO of Alliance for a Better Future, spoke at the recent Breitbart News “State of the Economy” policy event, expressing concerns about China’s tactics in the ongoing AI competition with the U.S. She suggested that China is willing to “cheat and steal and lie” to gain an edge over America.

During a conversation with Breitbart News Washington Bureau Chief Matthew Boyle, Kelly emphasized the significance of America emerging victorious in this race. She indicated that this issue is a core reason for her organization’s existence and highlighted the urgency surrounding it. “If we hesitate, we’re essentially giving our most advanced technology to one of our foreign adversaries,” she remarked.

Kelly reflected on the broader implications of losing this technological race, touching on values central to the American experience. She stated, “Everything we hold dear is at risk—the American dream and whether our children will enjoy the same opportunities we did.” She expressed a firm resolve, declaring, “We will not let that happen.”

She warned that if the U.S. delays, it could lead to devastating consequences, noting that China has already demonstrated a willingness to resort to underhanded methods, stating, “They’re not playing fair.” She pointed out that America is uniquely positioned to build AI that the world, not just Americans, can trust.

Kelly concluded with a sense of urgency, stating, “The window for this is closing.” As it stands now, the opportunity is there, but it may not last long, hence the strong push from her organization.
