President Trump said Japan is scheduled to begin tariff negotiations with the US in Washington on Wednesday.
“Japan is coming today to negotiate tariffs, military support costs and ‘trade equity,” Trump said. I said it in the Truth Social Post.
“I will be at the meeting and will be present with the Ministry of Finance and the secretary of the Commerce. Hopefully something will be resolved (great!) for Japan and the US!”
It’s the day after the Trump administration said offers from at least 15 countries have been offered for a bespoke trade deal, following last week’s announcement of a 90-day suspension on mutual tariffs.
Ahead of the 90-day suspension, Japan was hit by a 24% tax on exports to us.
However, the 25% mandate on cars is similarly still in place with a universal 10% rate.
