Jared Leto Faces Sexual Misconduct Allegations from Multiple Women
Nine women have made serious allegations of sexual misconduct against Jared Leto, with details emerging on Friday.
Among the claims is a troubling accusation from a woman who alleges she was a minor during a brief encounter with Leto.
Leto’s representative has denied all allegations of wrongdoing.
The renewed attention on these claims comes after DJ Allie Teilz shared an old post on Instagram, mentioning a troubling experience. She remarked, “Not much happens in Los Angeles until Jared Leto tries to force you behind the scenes,” and later added, “He knew my age and didn’t care.”
Other accounts reported by Airmail indicate that one woman described the situation as a “long-awaited secret,” while another mentioned meeting him in 2006 at the age of 16.
In response to speculation about possible substance use during encounters, a spokesperson for Leto stated, “He has been drinking or not using drugs for over 35 years.”
Model Laura La Rue, who met Leto at 16, described a similar experience, noting that he invited her to his music studio. Leto’s team contended that their interactions were not inappropriate and pointed out that La Rue later applied for a position as Leto’s personal assistant, which they stated further invalidated claims of misconduct. However, it’s worth noting that La Rue declined the job offer.
Another woman recounted that she began texting Leto as a minor, and that their relationship became more intense once she reached adulthood.
All claims against Leto have been firmly denied, according to his representative.
Leto first gained prominence in the mid-90s playing Jordan Catalano in the cult series My So-Called Life. He received acclaim for his performances in films like Requiem for a Dream, Dallas Buyers Club, and Suicide Squad. In addition to acting, he is also known for leading the band Thirty Seconds to Mars, which he co-founded with his brothers in 1998.
Notably recognized for his method acting, Leto’s portrayal of the Joker in Suicide Squad drew attention for its intensity. He previously mentioned attempting to create spontaneous moments on set by sending unusual items to fellow cast members, including “used condoms” and “anal beads.” However, he later disputed those claims, stating in 2016 that “99.9% of what people read are bulls***. There were no condoms.”
Leto’s behavior has been scrutinized over the years. Notably, actor Dylan Sprouse mentioned online incidents in 2018, prompting a retort from director James Gunn, who questioned why Leto would “start at 18 on the internet?”
