Jasmine Crockett’s Response to Critics

Rep. Jasmine Crockett, a Democrat from Texas, has often accused her critics of racism, regardless of their political affiliations. Recently, she reacted to comments made by podcasters Matt Rogers and Bowen Yang, who suggested that supporters shouldn’t finance a Senate candidate’s campaign. While Rogers and Yang later walked back their remarks, Crockett criticized them for what she perceives as an attack rooted in bias against her race and gender.

“I think the host definitely said something indicative of deeper issues,” Crockett remarked. “If a white man can struggle in politics, why should a black woman even think she has a chance?” She noted that many white men are losing in politics, emphasizing that this strategy isn’t unique to her.

In October, she faced a similar situation involving ESPN analyst Stephen A. Smith and former MSNBC host Joy Reid. Smith later expressed regret for mentioning Crockett but accused her of attacking black women consistently.

Crockett alluded to ongoing criticism of her work environment, suggesting that accusations of her creating a “toxic” workplace stem from racial bias. In August, the New York Post reported those claims, which were dismissed by the Texas Democratic Party. “It’s absurd and completely baseless,” Crockett said, acknowledging the scrutiny that comes with being a young, Black woman in politics.

She has also called out Republican opponents like Vice President J.D. Vance for perpetuating racial stereotypes, stating, “I’m not here for distraction. Let’s focus on the policies that actually help Texans.” She added that despite the challenges, she has risen through the ranks to become a U.S. Congressman and that her standing wouldn’t diminish if she were to become a senator.

Crockett has long been vocal against President Donald Trump, alleging that he fears “smart, bold black women” and criticizing his past remarks about her intelligence. In a post earlier this year, she addressed him directly, asserting that her name serves as a reminder of accountability.

As of now, Crockett’s office has not commented further on these recent controversies.
