Democrat Critiques Biden’s Border Policy Amid Recent Attack
On a recent CNN appearance, Colorado Democrat Jason Crowe defended the Biden administration’s border policies, arguing they weren’t to blame for visa issues. The discussion arose after an Egyptian national, Mohamed Sabri Soliman, who had overstayed his non-immigrant visa, reportedly attacked a Sunday event supporting hostages. This incident, filmed on October 7, 2023, was attributed to Hamas, a militant group responsible for over 1,200 Israeli deaths and numerous injuries.
Crowe claimed that former President Donald Trump was more focused on attacking the Biden administration rather than addressing the complexities of immigration and visa overstays. During the segment, CNN co-host Kate Bolduan brought attention to Trump’s comments that linked the attack to Biden’s border policies, asking Crowe for his response. “According to the DHS, these suspects have overstayed their visas and are denying asylum,” she stated, pressing for Crowe’s take on the matter.
Crowe rebutted with criticism of Trump’s approach, asserting, “President Trump just attacks his enemies when something tragic occurs. That’s not what leadership looks like.” He emphasized the need for clear answers regarding visa overstays, maintaining that the issue is distinct from border security, which he claims is currently ineffective.
In Colorado, new laws have been enacted that complicate the efforts of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in arresting illegal immigrants. Crowe expressed the necessity for law enforcement while questioning why potential threats weren’t adequately addressed during Trump’s presidency. “We need to know what signals were missed and what the FBI was aware of regarding these attacks,” he remarked.
Statistics from U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) indicate that millions of illegal immigrants have been encountered during the Biden administration, although reports have noted a significant decrease since Trump’s presidency began on January 20, 2025.
