Jason Williams Plans to Avoid College World Series
Jason Williams has decided not to celebrate the conclusion of his daughter’s time in the College World Series.
The former NBA player, who was active from 1998 to 2011, was seen with his daughter, Mia, at Texas Tech University in a photo shared by Barstool Sports.
However, on Wednesday night, he abruptly announced he would stop participating in game coverage due to complaints he received.
“I’m not going to the game this weekend because things are getting out of hand,” he mentioned in a video that has since been taken down from X.
“People think I’m making this about me. It’s really about the girls. Let them have their moment. They’re the ones playing, and that’s how I’ve always supported them, and I’ll keep doing that,” he added.
Last week, Williams had fun with Barstool’s Tate Moore, watching Mia play in the Women’s College World Series while capturing moments for social media.
There was a memorable moment when a young fan from Mississippi State brought a Sacramento Kings jersey for Williams to sign during a game against Texas Tech on May 28. Tate filmed the encounter.
And after Mia hit a walk-off home run against Alabama on Monday, Tate also captured Jason’s energetic celebration.
This decision to end the video series came just a week after Williams was ejected from a game during a super regional against Florida for shouting from the stands and making a sarcastic gesture.
Following their victory over Alabama on Monday, Texas Tech is set to face Texas for the third consecutive time in the CWS on Wednesday. This will be the second year running that Texas’ opponents clash in Oklahoma City for the title, and the Red Raiders aim to seek revenge for last year’s loss.
Despite not attending the game in person, Williams expressed that he will be cheering from home with the same enthusiasm he would have in the stands.
