Jay-Z to Perform at Super Bowl LXI Halftime Show

Looks like Jay-Z won’t be searching far for a performer for this year’s Super Bowl halftime show. The 25-time Grammy Award winner has reportedly chosen to take the stage himself at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, which is just outside Los Angeles. This decision, as per reports, seems pretty straightforward for the legendary artist.

According to Puck News, Jay-Z opted for himself over other popular contenders like Miley Cyrus and Justin Bieber, who were both considered finalists for the halftime gig. Interestingly, TMZ mentioned that Harry Styles was also in the running for this celebrated February performance.

Since 2019, Jay-Z and his company, Roc Nation, have played a major role in organizing the Super Bowl halftime show, so it’s not surprising that he would want to step into the spotlight himself.

The 56-year-old rap legend is currently wrapping up a tour, with two back-to-back shows scheduled at SoFi Stadium on October 23 and 24. His Jay-Z 30 Tour is a celebration of the 30th anniversary of his debut album, ‘Reasonable Doubt.’ It has been quite the success, with reports suggesting that he’s grossed over $42 million from three consecutive nights of performances at Yankee Stadium this past July.

It’s worth noting that, while Jay-Z has never headlined the Super Bowl, his wife, Beyoncé, shone in the spotlight during the halftime show back in 2013 in New Orleans. She also appeared on stage again in 2016 alongside Bruno Mars and Coldplay.

Though it’s been a while since Jay-Z released an album, with ‘4:44’ dropping in June 2017, he recently revisited his past by re-releasing the single ‘I Just Wanna Love U’ from 2000.

With Super Bowl LXI set for February 14, fans are likely eager to see what Jay-Z brings to the iconic halftime stage.
