Jay-Z Selects Himself for the Super Bowl LXI Halftime Show in Los Angeles

Jay-Z to Headline Super Bowl Halftime Show

The Super Bowl Halftime Show, a major highlight of the NFL season, will see rap icon Jay-Z take center stage. Since he began curating the event in 2019, fans have speculated about when he would perform himself, and it seems that moment has finally arrived.

According to sources, Jay-Z has chosen to be the main act for the upcoming game at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles on February 14, 2027. This news was reported by Puck.

For the past few years, Jay-Z, through his Roc Nation entertainment company, has been influential in selecting acts for the Halftime Show. Earlier rumors suggested he was considering artists like Harry Styles, Miley Cyrus, and Justin Bieber for the 2027 performance. However, if the latest reports are accurate, Jay-Z has opted to headline the show himself.

If this information holds true, it will mark the first time Jay-Z performs live during the Super Bowl.

Interestingly, Jay-Z hasn’t released any new music since 2017, when his album 4:44 achieved double-platinum status.

Nonetheless, he recently wrapped up his concert tour in 2026, performing to packed houses. Notably, his two shows at Yankee Stadium in July pulled in $42 million in ticket sales, and he earned $12 million for a sell-out performance in Paris in September.

The NFL enlisted Jay-Z and Roc Nation to produce the Halftime Show in 2019, following years of player protests and accusations of racism against the league. The partnership was extended in 2024 and will last through 2029.

However, this collaboration hasn’t been without its challenges. Jay-Z faced significant backlash for selecting Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny for last year’s show, especially after Bunny’s announcement that he would perform in Spanish, causing divides in viewer engagement. The NFL reportedly lost 39% of its audience during that performance, which led to a rival Halftime Show backed by conservative group TPUSA attracting millions of viewers.

So, mark your calendars for February 14, 2027, as Super Bowl Sunday will coincide with Valentine’s Day and Presidents’ Day weekend at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. The game will be broadcast on ESPN and ABC, as well as streamed on the ESPN app and Disney+.
