Jayapal Defends ‘Terrorist’ Comment About ICE
Representative Pramila Jayapal, a Democrat from Washington, recently took to social media to describe ICE as a “terrorist force.” In a conversation with Brianna Keilar on CNN, she elaborated on her views, stating, “ICE behaves like terrorists. People across the country, regardless of their legal status, are lured out of their homes by masked individuals. They operate without any accountability.”
Keilar pressed Jayapal for her response to a statement from White House spokesperson Abigail Jackson. Jackson criticized Jayapal’s remarks, calling them “disgusting” and asserting that ICE officers perform their duties professionally under federal immigration laws. She added that such “dangerous smears by leftists will incite supporters to retaliate against federal law enforcement,” highlighting a 500% increase in attacks on ICE agents this year.
In reply, Jayapal emphasized that the actions of ICE agents are both “cruel and outrageous,” mentioning how they often lack clear identification, as they frequently wear masks and casual clothing. She expressed her disbelief that such behavior could occur in America, arguing that it causes fear among many, including business owners and everyday citizens. For instance, at a recent gathering in Spokane, she heard concerns from local farmers and restaurant owners who noted that people are afraid to go out.
Jayapal firmly labeled ICE enforcement as “outrageous” and “illegal,” and expressed a need for the administration to apologize to U.S. citizens who, according to her, have been unjustly targeted.
In related news, Tom Homan, a former immigration official, appeared on “The Will Cain Show,” also mentioning the rise in attacks against ICE agents. He condemned the violence against them, describing recent incidents where agents faced ambushes, underscoring a troubling escalation in hostility.
