JD Vance calls Tim Walz 'a joke' amid fraud accusations

Vance Criticizes Walz, Calls Him a “Joke”

On Thursday, Vice President J.D. Vance took aim at Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, dubbing him “Joke.” This remark followed Walz’s reflections on Minnesota’s role during the Civil War, particularly relating to the shooting of 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good by ICE agents.

Walz, who announced his decision not to seek re-election on Monday, has faced challenges lately as Minnesota grapples with an investigation regarding misconduct in its social services system.

Vance didn’t hold back, expressing, “Tim Walz is a joke. His whole administration is absurd. The notion that he’s a champion for freedom? That’s just not true. He has enabled, and maybe even participated in, fraud.” Vance emphasized his focus on uncovering the truth about this situation for the benefit of the American people.

Meanwhile, Walz’s office has not yet responded to requests for comments regarding Vance’s statements.

The Department of Homeland Security’s spokesperson Tricia McLaughlin claimed that Good “used his vehicle as a weapon” against law enforcement officers, while Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem characterized the action as an “act of domestic terrorism.”

Yet, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey countered the administration’s defense, suggesting that the shooting was not defensive and seemed fabricated.

Earlier in the day, Walz acknowledged the significant contributions made by the 1st Minnesota Volunteer Infantry Regiment, credited with holding the Union line during the Battle of Gettysburg. He stated, “In moments of despair, it was No. 1 Minnesota that upheld the country on July 3, 1863. We may be experiencing that moment again.” He called for a commitment to uphold democracy, decency, and accountability.

Vance is not alone in his criticism; notable figures like Elon Musk have also voiced their disapproval, even labeling Walz a “traitor.” Additionally, Republicans and Donald Trump have expressed their concerns, with Trump asserting that Minnesota is a hub for illicit activities.

The Trump administration and other lawmakers are investigating an alleged $250 million fraud operation, dubbed Feeding Our Future, which supposedly exploited child nutrition programs during the pandemic. Another scheme linked to Minnesota involves Medicaid services intended to assist individuals with disabilities or mental health challenges in finding housing.
