Vice President Critiques Democrats Following ICE Shooting

Vice President JD Vance expressed strong condemnation of Democrats on Wednesday for their rhetoric that he believes has fueled attacks against Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents. This statement followed a tragic shooting incident at an ICE facility in Dallas, Texas.

Early Wednesday morning, the shooter opened fire at the facility, resulting in the deaths of two undocumented immigrants before taking his own life. During a speech in Concord, North Carolina, Vance suggested that language used by Democrats, which often paints ICE agents in a negative light, could lead to violence.

“If your political rhetoric encourages violence against law enforcement, you should take a long, hard look at yourself. You have no place in this country’s political discourse,” Vance remarked.

Authorities found a bullet casing at the scene inscribed with the words “anti-ice,” according to FBI director Kash Patel.

In a related comments, Vance addressed California Governor Gavin Newsom’s recent characterization of ICE as “the largest civilian military” and dismissed Newsom’s views on ICE actions as “surprising beyond words.” Newsom has criticized ICE’s operations, linking them to President Donald Trump’s alleged authoritarianism.

Meanwhile, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz referred to ICE as “modern Gestapo,” and Texas Representative Jasmine Crockett likened the agency to “slave patrols” during a recent MSNBC appearance. Additionally, Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez labeled ICE as an “illicit institution” earlier this year.

Compounding the situation, NBC News faced backlash after it was reported that an ICE agent took a 5-year-old autistic girl into custody as leverage against her undocumented father. Though the outlet subsequently corrected its report, the initial incident sparked significant outrage.

Vance criticized NBC News for contributing to political violence through its reporting and urged Democrats and the liberal media to reconsider their rhetoric regarding law enforcement. “Political violence is escalating in this country, and we must address it—starting with the political leaders who inadvertently incite it,” he said.

In a startling statistic, ICE agents have reportedly faced a 1,000% surge in assaults since January. The Department of Homeland Security noted this alarming trend and mentioned a recent ambush at an ICE facility in Texas that left a police officer injured.

Overall, Vance emphasized that safeguarding law enforcement personnel needs to be a priority for national discourse.
