JD Vance Defends FTC Trust-Buster Lina Khan Against Kamala Harris’s Billionaire Donors

Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio), former President Donald Trump’s running mate, is defending Federal Trade Commission (FTC) chair Lina Khan, America’s biggest trust buster, against Vice President Kamala Harris’ billionaire donors who are calling for her removal from her position.

Several billionaire supporters of Harris have publicly called on her to remove Khan from his position as FTC chair, a step she is reportedly considering. These billionaires are involved with companies under investigation by the FTC on a range of issues.

Khan is “waging a war on American business,” said Reid Hoffman, a billionaire who donated millions to Harris’ presidential campaign and is a Microsoft director and co-founder of artificial intelligence startup Inflexion, whose dealings with Microsoft are currently being investigated by the FTC.

Similarly, billionaire Barry Diller called Khan a “stupid guy” and demanded that Harris fire her. Diller eventually retracted his comments. The FTC is also investigating his company, IAC.

In an interview with CBS News, Vance Protected Khan is at odds with powerful Harris donors.

“To be clear, I don’t agree with Lina Khan on all of her issues, but I think her willingness to go after some of the big tech companies that have a monopoly on what we can say in our country is very smart,” Vance said.

“I don’t want to allow Google, and the billionaires who control it in collusion with China, to censor American information, but that’s exactly what they’ve done,” he continued.

Vance and other Republicans, such as Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Missouri), Rep. Ken Buck (R-Colo.) and Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.), dubbing “Khanservative Republican” The Wall Street Journal He supported Khan’s performance as FTC chairman.

“I think Lina Khan is one of the few people in the Biden administration who is doing a pretty good job,” Vance previously said.

Ms. Harris has in recent weeks become a darling of Wall Street brokers, who see her candidacy as a return to the status quo that has prevailed for decades in Washington, D.C. Ms. Harris also has the backing of billionaire George Soros and his son, Alex Soros.
