JD Vance jokes about skipping inauguration to watch Ohio State in College Football Playoff title game

Vice President-elect J.D. Vance, an Ohio State graduate, said in August that this Buckeyes team might be “the best” he had ever seen.

That problem could easily be resolved when Ohio State plays Notre Dame in the national championship game later this month, and Vance hopes to attend that game.

However, there is one small complication.

President-elect Donald Trump and Vance will be officially sworn in on January 20, the same day as the title fight.

“I hope everyone stays calm so I can skip the inauguration and go to the national title game,” Vance joked in a social media post.

The former Ohio State senator then posted a meme in response to his own post on presented options.

The Buckeyes beat Texas in the Cotton Bowl on Thursday night for a chance to compete for the program's first national title since 2014.

Meanwhile, Notre Dame, which defeated Penn State in the Orange Bowl on Wednesday, is aiming for its 12th overall championship and first since 1988.

Vance will be in Washington cheering on the Buckeyes as Trump is sworn in for a second term in the White House.
