Vance Confronts Heckler During Keynote Speech
During his keynote address at the GOP convention on Thursday night, Vice President JD Vance had a notable encounter with a heckler who was brandishing foreign flags and shouting at him from the crowd.
The heckler, holding Mexican and Palestinian flags, caught Vance’s attention as he addressed thousands of GOP supporters at the American Airlines Center in Dallas. While the convention’s official broadcast missed the scene, Vance relayed the moment to those watching from home.
“What the people at home missed is that we just had a protester interrupting us and waving the Mexican flag,” he remarked. “Well, my friend, if you love Mexico so much, get your a– over there. I’ll buy you the plane ticket.”
The crowd responded with a loud chant of “USA! USA! USA!” as security escorted the protester out of the venue.
Vance’s speech emphasized a strong nationalistic theme, rooted in America First principles. He also took aim at Democrats, expressing his commitment to the concept of the nuclear family. “I think about what the Democrats have said about our shared birthright as Americans, or frankly, the lack thereof in Michigan,” he stated. “One Democrat in particular has said, and I quote, ‘f the nuclear family.’ Should ask the nuclear family, what are you even talking about? These hateful words come not from a love of country,” he continued. “They come from a very deep emptiness in the soul.”
He asserted that the Founders established the nation on a promise reflecting divine values: “I believe the Founders built this nation on a promise that echoes our Creator: That every American child is born an heir, born with a birthright. Not because of who their parents are. Not because of what they look like or where they come from. But because they are Americans.”
Throughout his speech, attendees rallied, chanting “JD! JD! JD!” as he concluded and stepped off the stage.
