JD Vance Responds to Controversy Around Bud Light and Violence

Vice President JD Vance made his way back to social media on Friday after a video surfaced that seemed to mock Trump supporters for their reactions to the Bud Light controversy of 2023.

The video, shared on X, depicted a man who shot another individual apparently protesting Vance’s collaboration with transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney. This led many users to criticize Vance, urging him not to complain about so-called “violent rhetoric from the left.”

In the video, one user remarked, “This is how Make America Great Again supporters reacted after Bud Light featured trans-influencers in their advertisements. So, we won’t spare your views, JD Vance.” Vance responded by calling on his supporters to refrain from violence against “innocent beer cans,” while also urging left-wing extremists to stop inciting violence against individuals.

Earlier this week, Vance criticized those who slander law enforcement, suggesting they encourage “crazy people” to commit acts of violence. This came after a shooter targeted a Dallas Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility on Wednesday.

During a recent visit to North Carolina, Vance stated, “You might not agree with my immigration policies or even those of Donald Trump. However, if your political rhetoric promotes violence against law enforcement, you can go straight to hell. There’s no room for that in our political discourse.” He added that to quell political violence, people need to stop demeaning law enforcement and labeling disagreement as Nazi-like behavior.

Moreover, Vance expressed his condolences over the assassination of Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University, linking it to what he termed “the political radicalization of the left.” He mentioned that attempts were made to silence Kirk, emphasizing the need to remember and honor him during a memorial event.

The Bud Light controversy ignited significant backlash against both Mulvaney and the beer brand. After posting a video in April 2023, Mulvaney disclosed that Bud Light had sent a pack featuring influencer faces as part of a new marketing initiative, celebrating Mulvaney’s transition to “girlhood.”
