Vice President J.D. Vance has responded to a photo making rounds on social media that supposedly shows him in a disagreement with his wife, Usha.
The undated image, which hasn’t been verified, shows Vance, wearing a white T-shirt, looking displeased, sitting in a restaurant booth with his head down and hands on his face, across from Usha, with whom he has been married for a decade.
Critics of the Trump administration seized on this photo as apparent proof of marital strife, filling the comments section with various remarks.
A Facebook user named Thomas Clay Jr. shared the image on December 5, suggesting: “Things aren’t looking so good for the Republican Party.”
Many speculated that the photo might have been created by AI.
In jest, Vance turned the criticism around on Tuesday with a sharp statement, saying: “Whenever I go out in public to have a loud argument with my wife, I always wear an undershirt,” he wrote on X.
There has been speculation regarding the couple’s relationship since Vance married Erica, the widow of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, last October.
In recent appearances with First Lady Melania Trump, Usha was seen without her wedding ring, fueling further rumors.
Usha’s spokesperson clarified that she is a busy mother who “cooks a lot, takes many baths and sometimes forgets her ring.”
Vance, dismissing the online noise, described the situation as “kind of exhilarating” during an interview with NBC News last week.
