JD Vance swears in Howard Lutnick as Donald Trump’s commerce secretary at the White House

Vice President J.D. Vice President Vance vowed at Howard Lutnick as White House Secretary of Commerce on Friday.

At the oath ceremony, President Donald Trump said that Lutonic's priorities in his role focused on job growth, claiming that Lutonic “really understands something about business.” Additionally, Trump informed him that he would soon impose mutual tariffs.

Lutnick has expressed support for Trump's tariff proposal, saying at his confirmation hearing in the Senate Commerce Committee on Commerce in January that the US can “use tariffs to create reciprocity.” Ta.

The Trump administration has ordered federal agencies to investigate the challenges that impose mutual tariffs to correct the tariff imbalances that exist between countries that sell US products. Lutnick said on February 13 that a report on the issue will be ready by April 1.

Additionally, Lutnick, former chairman and CEO of investment firm Cantor Fitzgerald, has vowed to sell all business interests at the time of confirmation to avoid conflicts of interest.

“My plan is to serve Americans only,” he told lawmakers in January. “So I'm going to sell. I mean, I'm going to sell all my profits, all my business profits, all my assets, everything.”

The Senate confirmed Lutonic on Tuesday at a margin of 51-45.
