JD Vance threatens to abandon Russia, Ukraine peace negotiations

Vice President JD Vance threatened to abandon peace talks between Russia and Ukraine on Wednesday ahead of a high-stakes meeting in London, in order for the two fighting nations to discuss Trump’s “final offer.”

“We have issued a very explicit proposal for both Russians and Ukrainians. It’s time for them to say yes or the US to leave this process,” Vance told reporters during his trip to India. We are engaged in an extraordinary amount of diplomacy. ”

Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who was expected to take part in London’s debate, has already been released on bail at the summit, where the US is expected to continue to carry on a rapid end of the conflict despite Ukraine’s commitment to Russia’s territory.

The US expects Ukraine to respond to peace proposals that include official recognition of Crimea as part of Russia and the official recognition that it “effectively acknowledged” most regions of Russia since the 2022 invasion.

Ukraine will also be banned from participating in NATO, but could potentially participate in the European Union, according to a one-page document outlining the key points of the proposal presented to European leaders in Paris last week.

Additionally, all sanctions imposed on Russia since 2014 have been lifted, and Washington and Moscow will pledge greater economic cooperation, particularly in terms of energy production, Axios reported.

Ukraine in return receives “robust security guarantees” from Europe and non-European countries, but details about what this would look like were not immediately clear.

A small portion of the Russian-occupied Kalkiv disturbance will be returned to Ukraine, and they will have full access to the Dnieper River.

Kyiv will also receive funds to help rebuild, but the document did not show where the money would come from.

Wednesday’s talks follow a meeting with leaders from the US, UK, Germany and France where US plans were discussed last week.

According to CNN, instead of Rubio, Keith Kellogg, a special envoy for Trump in Ukraine and Russia, will represent the United States in London.
