Republican vice presidential candidate J.D. Vance believes that 81-year-old President Joe Biden should immediately step down as commander in chief now that he has announced he will not seek reelection.
Hours before the president announced he was dropping out of the race on Sunday, Vance said Biden stepping down as presumptive nominee would be a “clear admission that he is mentally unfit to continue serving as president.”
If Joe Biden ends his reelection campaign, how can he justify staying in the presidency?
Not running for reelection would be a clear admission that President Trump was correct all along that Biden was not mentally qualified to be commander in chief.
There is no middle ground.

“If Joe Biden ends his reelection campaign, how can he justify remaining in office?” Vance said in a post on X on Sunday morning.
“Not running for reelection would be a clear admission that President Trump was correct all along that Biden was not mentally qualified to be commander in chief,” he said. “There is no middle ground.”
He echoed similar sentiments on Saturday.
Anyone calling for Joe Biden to “stop running” without calling for him to resign from the presidency is falling into an absurd level of cynicism.
If you can’t run, you can’t serve.
He should resign immediately.

“If he cannot run, he cannot fulfill his duties. He should resign immediately,” he wrote.
In a press release shared for the first time on X, the 81-year-old president said he intends to serve out the remainder of his term.

“While I intend to seek reelection, I believe it is best for my party and the nation if I step aside to focus on fulfilling the duties of my office for the remainder of my term,” he wrote.
The move comes just weeks before the Democratic National Convention and after states have completed their Democratic nomination processes.
Fourteen million voters nationwide chose Biden as their candidate, and his supporters said as recently as Saturday that if leading Democrats were successful in pushing him aside, it would “disenfranchise” primary voters and caucus-goers.
“If Democratic elites are going to oust Biden and disenfranchise 14 million voters like me, then Democrats are no different from Republicans,” says one “Biden surrogate.” Said NBC News. “Democrats lose the argument to protect so-called democracy and will be seen as racist.”
Biden later endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris in a post on X-Sunday.
Fellow Democrats, I have decided not to seek the nomination and to focus my efforts on my duties as President for the remainder of my term. My first decision as the 2020 candidate was to select Kamala Harris as my Vice President. And it was the best decision I could have made… pic.twitter.com/x8DnvuImJV

Eric Trump exclusively told Breitbart News on Wednesday that the Trump campaign is prepared for either Harris or Biden, and noted that pulling out would tarnish Biden’s “legacy.”
