Policy Group Praises Trump’s Military Action Against Iran
A prominent public policy nonprofit, co-chaired by former Florida Governor Jeb Bush, has expressed approval for President Donald Trump’s military strike against Iran that occurred on Saturday.
United Against Nuclear Iran (UANI) was established by Bush alongside Ambassador Mark Wallace, who has held various positions related to the UN in previous administrations. The organization aims to address the threats posed by the Iranian government and has been vocal in highlighting human rights violations and hostile actions toward Americans.
UANI also provides guidance to potential business partners in Iran, advising them on the legal and financial risks they may face in such ventures.
“UANI praises the courage and professionalism of both American and Israeli military personnel who executed this important mission against the Iranian regime,” Bush and Wallace stated in an interview.
They further commended President Trump’s decisive action, remarking, “For 47 years, the Iranian regime has brought terror and suffering not only to its own citizens but also to the broader region, and it has posed threats to the United States, Israel, and allied nations.”
Bush and Wallace acknowledged that past presidents have attempted to integrate Iran into a “community of peaceful nations,” but those efforts have largely fallen short.
Interestingly, just a week prior, President Trump had been exploring diplomatic negotiations, with officials indicating his commitment to finding a peaceful solution.
“However, the regime escalated tensions and pursued nuclear arms. The responsibility for this situation rests with Khamenei,” they remarked.
Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the Iranian leader, was reported deceased by Israeli sources later that day.
The duo also emphasized that the US-Israeli operation targeted Khamenei’s threats rather than the nation or its people. They expressed sympathy for the Iranian populace, emphasizing the importance of Trump’s message during and after the strikes.
“Our hope is for a free, prosperous, and peaceful Iran. It’s time for the Iranian people to reclaim their greatness,” they said, adding that “the tyrants of Tehran are gone.”
In his commentary on the developments, Bush labeled the military operation “Operation Epic Fury,” calling it a significant strike against the Iranian leadership.
He acknowledged the bravery of the military forces involved and praised Trump’s decision as commendable.
In terms of the relationship between Bush and Trump, it seems to have improved since their contentious past. During the 2016 campaign, Trump had infamously labeled Bush as “Low Energy Jeb,” while Bush countered with quips about Trump’s rise to political prominence.
As governor, Bush focused heavily on enhancing public education, introducing standards to assess student performance and initiating the “A+ Plan,” which made Florida the first state to implement a grading system.
Recently, he commended the Trump administration for advancing nationwide school choice and federal block grants, calling them “transformative opportunities.”
Bush concluded, “The administration has a chance to reallocate power back to the states, tailoring policies to meet the diverse needs within our education system.”
