Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez Celebrate Their First Outing as Newlyweds in Venice
Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez recently enjoyed their first outing as a married couple at the famous Harry’s Bar in Venice, Italy, which is known as the birthplace of the Bellini cocktail.
Sources reported that the Amazon founder and former journalist were seen waving at guests dining on the terrace as they made their way through the nearby Hotel Monaco & Grand Canal.
One observer noted, “There’s no water taxi drop-off at Harry’s, so we had to stop at a hotel across the street and walk over.”
Harry’s Bar is a legendary spot, frequented by celebrities like Ernest Hemingway and George Clooney. Reports indicated that the establishment had been closed for a private event featuring Usher and Tommy Hilfiger for lunch, but by 9 p.m. local time, the restaurant was buzzing with activity, having opened its doors to the newlyweds and their guests.
Although there has been some backlash regarding the couple’s wedding, Arrigo Cipriani, the owner of Harry’s, commented previously that Bezos was simply a “person who came here to marry.” He added, “I don’t understand the issue. Venice is Venice, and this event won’t change anything.”
The venue was temporarily closed to accommodate the couple’s celebration, with signs indicating “closed for private events” posted outside.
Security was heightened around the party venues, with police present to ensure everything ran smoothly.
Additionally, Bezos and Sanchez have secured luxury accommodations at the Aman and Gritti Palace hotels. Guests who had reservations at the Aman prior to the couple’s arrival were relocated to the St. Regis to make room for Bezos and his famous friends.
Guests at the wedding included notable figures such as Oprah Winfrey, Gayle King, and Jerry Seinfeld. Reportedly, Friday night’s ceremony at San Giorgio Maggiore featured performances by Matteo Bocelli and pop star Ellie Goulding.
A source described the event as, “a fairy tale—warm, intimate, and brimming with love.”
