Jeff Bridges reprises his role as 'The Dude' to speak out against ICE raids on Kimmel's show

Jeff Bridges Voices Concerns on ICE During “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”

Actor Jeff Bridges made a brief return to his beloved character “The Dude” from “The Big Lebowski” while discussing U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” on Tuesday night.

While promoting his new film, “Tron: Ares,” the 75-year-old was encouraged by Kimmel to channel the Dude for some “words of wisdom.” So, he did, addressing the crowd in a cozy cardigan, holding a White Russian.

“Hey, world. Here’s this guy,” Bridges began. “Can we just calm everyone down for a second? I mean, hey, I’m talking about all the wars, battles, cancellations. Let’s just relax. We’re about, what, nine? We should be at zero. Or maybe 0.5 max, right?”

He then shifted focus to ICE operations, calling for them to “leave our cities.” Bridges urged, “ICE! Let’s shift ICE off our streets and into our drinks. We can’t stand this aggression, right? So let’s unite. Sure, it’s just my opinion, but isn’t it a solid one?”

Kimmel agreed, saying, “That’s a really great sentiment. Thank you, dude.”

In response to Bridges’ comments, Homeland Security Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin made a light-hearted remark that she “had to Google” who he was and referred to his ICE comments as “disgusting.”

Assistant White House Press Secretary Liz Houston weighed in as well, commenting that, “Jeff Bridges hasn’t been a big deal since the 20th century. It makes sense for low ratings loser Jimmy Kimmel to have Bridges on his show to address Trump Derangement Syndrome.”

Bridges is among several celebrities who have spoken out against ICE, especially concerning recent raids in Los Angeles. Kimmel, who films his show in the city, has voiced his own frustrations over ICE operations. He expressed disbelief at the situation, stating, “People who have lived here all their lives are being abducted by masked agents who hide their identities.” He added that it’s not only an American right but a responsibility to protest such actions.
