Jennifer Love Hewitt has recently spoken out about the ongoing speculation surrounding a supposed feud with Sarah Michelle Gellar.

“Honestly, I’m not really sure where this all came from,” the 46-year-old actress admitted during a recent interview. “It’s interesting that people feel the need to create stories like this. Why do we always have to be at odds with each other?”

Hewitt shared that she hasn’t had any contact with Gellar since they were together at 18 when the original “I Know What You Did Last Summer” film came out. She found it amusing that people seemed to expect her to say something about their supposed fallout.

“I think it’s funny when people are like, ‘Just say something!’ But, honestly, I haven’t seen her,” she noted. “As far as we’re concerned, everything is fine. We just don’t understand where this is coming from.”

Both actresses starred in the 1997 horror film alongside Ryan Phillippe and Freddie Prinze Jr. Gellar portrayed the character Helen Shivers, who meets a grim fate in the story.

Recently, both Hewitt and Prinze Jr. reprised their roles in the long-awaited sequel, which premiered this past Friday.

Gellar was also present at the film’s premiere on July 14, though they did not pose together on the red carpet, which only fueled the gossip. Some fans speculated that the two were purposely avoiding each other.

However, Gellar quickly addressed these rumors, pointing out that she couldn’t connect with Hewitt during the event due to personal reasons. “When the big carpet happened, I was inside with my kids,” she explained. “Unfortunately, JLH didn’t come to the afterparty.”

Fans who followed the premiere expressed disappointment, with some commenting that there seemed to be tension between the stars. However, Gellar’s clarification garnered appreciation from her followers, who praised her for addressing the situation.

“If you’ve ever been to these events, it can get hectic. Unfortunately, I didn’t get pictures with most of the cast, but that doesn’t lessen my admiration for them,” she said, concluding her remarks. Fans responded positively, thanking her for the explanation.
