Jeremy Lin to be part of ESPN's coverage for the Knicks' NBA Finals journey

Linsanity Returns for the NBA Finals

Jeremy Lin, the New York Knicks guard who took the basketball world by storm back in February 2012, is set to make an appearance during the NBA Finals. This comes as the Knicks face off against the Spurs, marking a significant moment for both Lin and the franchise.

Lin’s involvement starts on Wednesday with Game 1 in San Antonio, and it seems like a fitting backdrop for his return.

Back in 2012, Lin’s sudden rise to prominence, when he seized the point guard position for the Knicks, made him an international sensation. However, his tenure with the Knicks was complicated by injuries and the eventual return of star player Carmelo Anthony, which limited his role.

“I always felt like Knicks fans deserved the best. They’re so passionate,” Lin mentioned. He reflected on his time with the team, expressing a sense of unfulfillment. “While it was amazing to have that moment, I wish I could have achieved more, especially in the playoffs with the Knicks,” he noted.

His recent audition as a guest analyst for ESPN, where he spent three days in March, yielded a positive response. Lin mentioned that the audience’s feedback and his own feelings were beyond what he had expected. “It felt great to be back in the NBA atmosphere,” he added.

During his debut on ESPN, Lin will join Scott Van Pelt to analyze the series, which is particularly special as it’s the first time the Knicks have reached the Finals since 1999.

Lin, who created a sensation with his playoff performances in 2012, faced challenges during his free agency, which reportedly upset the Knicks’ management. When he signed with the Houston Rockets, it hampered the Knicks’ future options.

Though Lin’s stellar season included averages of 25 points, 9.2 assists, and 3.6 rebounds during a remarkable seven-game winning streak, highlighted by a memorable 38-point game against the Lakers and Kobe Bryant, he never quite reached that level again. Overall, he concluded his career with average statistics of 11.6 points, 4.3 assists, and 2.8 rebounds before retiring in August 2025 after years playing overseas.
