A Long Island man stabbed his mother to death as she prepared dinner at her Massapequa home on Christmas Eve, police said.
Jeremy Ramirez, 27, was arrested Saturday in connection with the gruesome holiday murder.
“On this particular night, it was just him and his mother, Jeremy and his mother, and his mother was making food for dinner,” said Detective Sgt. Stephen Fitzpatrick of the Nassau County Homicide Squad attended Saturday's press conference. NBC Television News in New York reported..
“He was seen stabbing her multiple times and discarding the knife outside the property,” Ms Fitzpatrick said. “It is unclear what prompted him to attack his mother, but given his past history and violent nature, something could have motivated him to attack his mother in such a way.'' There is a possibility.”
The newspaper said Ramirez had just returned from a local laundromat when he became enraged at home and repeatedly stabbed his mother, identified by police as Josefina Ramirez Montero, 57, in the chest and abdomen.
This was announced by Nassau County Police. Officers were dispatched to a home on Old Sunrise Highway and found the victim unresponsive in the living room. According to the police, she was pronounced dead at the hospital she was transported to.
Her son has a criminal record in 2018, when he was arrested on charges of assault and weapons possession stemming from the bat attack on the victim, the paper said.
Most recently, he was jailed in the same year for attempted murder, robbery and gang assault, and was released in January.
