Jerry Jones reaches settlement in paternity case, says ordeal was ‘sensitive to me and my family’

The nearly two-and-a-half-year legal battle surrounding Jerry Jones has finally come to an end after he reached a settlement with a woman who claims to be his biological daughter.

In March 2022, Alexandra Davis sued Jones in Dallas County, asking a judge to void a legal agreement her mother allegedly made with Jones two years after she was born.

The agreement stated that Jones would support them financially as long as they did not publicly state that he was Davis’ father, but Jones countersued for breach of contract.

According to media reports, Jones agreed to drop the counterclaims if the women dropped their pending lawsuits against him, including one in which Jones, the owner of the Dallas Cowboys, was ordered to take a DNA test.

As part of Tuesday’s agreement, the 1998 settlement will remain in effect.

“The issue has been resolved. It’s unfortunate,” Jones said. According to the Star-Telegram“It was a delicate issue for me and my family… It’s been resolved. I’m certainly where I wanted to be.”

“I am sorry that this happened but am pleased that it has been resolved to everyone’s satisfaction,” he added. NBC Dallas Fort Worth.

Davis dropped the 2022 lawsuit a month later and instead filed a paternity lawsuit, but a judge ordered Jones to take a DNA test earlier this year. She then sued Jones for defamation in November, accusing him and two associates of hatching a plot to brand her a “blackmailer.”

ABC News reported last year that she could refile the complaint based on statements made in an ESPN article from March 2022. According to the complaint, Jones’ attorney, Donald P. Jack, and Jones family communications consultant Jim Wilkinson falsely accused Davis of being “an extortionist” and portrayed “Plaintiff as attempting to ‘blackmail’ Defendant Jones.”
