Jerry Jones’ tear-jerking Cowboys monologue during ‘Landman’ cameo goes viral

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones appears in an episode of Paramount+'s “Landman,” and appears overly emotional in a scene in the hospital alongside Jon Hamm and Billy Bob Thornton. Many people believe that this is not an act.

Jones made a cameo appearance in the ninth episode of “Landman,” a show about a Texas oil tycoon, delivering a heartfelt speech to Jon Hamm's character while he was in a hospital bed.

Mr. Jones' appearance is no surprise given the wealth he made in the oil business and real estate before buying the Cowboys.

But “America's Team” struck a chord with Jones when he told Hamm's character why he wanted to buy the team in the first place.

“I'm not saying I did anything right, but I decided a long time ago that I wanted to work with kids,” Jones begins his monologue. “They’re involved in everything. They’re involved in my leases, oil and gas, real estate.

“So when we got the Cowboys, I thought we could all work together. I thought I was doing it for them. But I was the one who benefited the most.”

After Jones tells Hamm's character that he believes his illness won't take him into the next life, the Cowboys owner gets emotional talking about his family. Ta.

“I know it's not this time, but someday in the future you'll be sitting here, lying here, and this room will be filled with your business associates and all the people you've worked with.” Maybe your kids and your family are there because they’re your kids and your family,” Jones said. “But we were able to put them there because they are people who spent their lives together, worked together, fell together and rose together.

“It's not just Thanksgiving or Christmas. Those are the people you want to be with. So when a day like this comes, it's a celebration of your life and a little more time to watch the sun rise a little more.” You won't find yourself wishing you had spent more. That's the trick.

“I'm so proud of them, Cowboys. I'm so proud of what we've accomplished in oil and gas. I'm so proud of what we've done in oil and gas. I've lived my life working with kids. That's nothing compared to how proud we are of it.”

Jones' oil and gas journey began with a company in Arkansas called Jones Oil and Land Lease, which quickly grew. Mr. Jones also acquired Comstock Resources, which also does oil and gas exploration. Jones and his family are currently Comstock Resources' largest shareholders.

With the money he now had, Jones bought the Cowboys for $140 million on February 25, 1989, and it has been his pride and joy ever since. As Jones stated in his speech, his children play a large role in the Cowboys' operations.

Jones continues to run the team as owner, president and general manager, and although it's the last title he's been criticized for in recent seasons, he has no plans to quit anytime soon.
