The Jets have three players heading to the Pro Bowl game this week.
Edge rusher Jermaine Johnson was added to the Chargers on Tuesday to replace Khalil Mack.
Johnson continued to perform well in his second season.
He recorded 7.5 sacks, 11 tackles for loss, seven passes defensed, and returned one interception for a touchdown.
Johnson will play in the Pro Bowl this week in Orlando, Fla., along with teammates CB Sauce Gardner and DT Quinnen Williams.
The Jets’ 2022 draft class seems to be getting better and better.
Gardner and Johnson were selected in the first round along with wide receiver Garrett Wilson, who had back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons.
The team acquired running back Breece Hall in the second round and he gained 1,585 yards from scrimmage in 2023.
Jets hire receivers coach
The Jets hired Panthers wide receivers coach Sean Jefferson. Post confirmed.
CBS Sports first reported that a deal is brewing between the 54-year-old Jefferson and the Jets.
Last February, the Panthers hired Jefferson, a former wideout who played 13 seasons in the NFL. He also has 17 seasons worth of experience as a coach.
Zach Azzani, who served as the Jets’ wide receivers coach last season, will be leaving the team after one year.
Jefferson remained with the Jets under coach Adam Gase in 2019-20.
