PITTSBURGH — The Jets have managed to change the conversation after their past two losses.
All they need now is a win.
A week after a head coaching change, they come here at 2-4 to face the 4-2 Steelers, who have new wide receiver Davante Adams.
The transition from Robert Saleh to Jeff Ulbrich didn't result in a win against Buffalo on Monday night.
Let's see if the addition of Adams can break the three-game losing streak.
The Jets know they're running out of room and need to start winning the close games they keep losing.
“We understand that,” team captain CJ Mosley said. “We have Davante here. We have everything we need. No more excuses, no more excuses. It's time for us to find a way to win games. We need to be clean. There's no need to explode. We just have to find a way.”
Adams will be reunited with quarterback Aaron Rodgers, and the Jets hope the two can recapture the magic they shared for eight seasons in Green Bay.
The Jets need something.
Amazingly, they have scored 113 points this season, which is the same number of points they scored in six games last season with Zach Wilson at quarterback.
Adams had missed the past three weeks in Las Vegas with a hamstring injury, and many suspected he was being exaggerated as he was waiting to be traded.
He practiced fully with the Jets this week and should play a big role in this game.
Rogers and Adams reunited over the past week, staying at Rogers' house and driving to work together.
“He sat next to me at the team meeting. [Wednesday]And I turned to him and said, 'Hey, how crazy is this?''' Rogers said. “It's something we joke about when we get together in the offseason, but I never thought that was possible or likely to happen, so it was great to be with him. He had a walk-through field, When you walk into a practice field or a meeting, there's a palpable presence.
“Obviously he brings influence and admiration from someone who was at the very top of his profession.”
It remains to be seen how the addition of Adams will affect the rest of the offensive line.
Will Garrett Wilson's goals plummet? Can the Jets get away from the run game that showed promise last week?
All of that will be revealed in the coming weeks.
Heading into Sunday, they're just hoping Adams can help them win, something the Jets haven't had the last four weeks.
