Jets players who celebrated with Kris Boyd before the NYC nightclub shooting are identified

Incident Involving Jets Cornerback Kris Boyd

Kris Boyd, a cornerback for the New York Jets, was enjoying a night out at a popular Manhattan nightclub when an unexpected confrontation led to him being shot in the stomach, according to police reports from Monday.

The 29-year-old was at Say Less Asian Fusion nightclub early Sunday morning with teammates Jamian Sherwood and Irvin Charles. During their time there, a group of unruly individuals seemed to target the trio, causing some discomfort for Boyd in the tense atmosphere.

As they left the venue around 2 a.m., a fight erupted outside, shots were fired, and Boyd was hit in the stomach amidst the chaos, officials stated. Witnesses captured video of the incident, showing a commotion with two gunshots followed by a flurry of punches as everyone scrambled for safety.

Boyd was quickly taken to Bellevue Hospital, where he remains in serious but stable condition and is anticipated to be released as soon as Monday. There are reports of a bullet lodged in his lung.

Sources mentioned that none of Boyd’s group was carrying weapons. This includes Charles, a wide receiver who joined the Jets in 2023, earning $1.03 million this year, although he is currently on the physically unable to perform list.

Meanwhile, Sherwood, a 25-year-old in his fifth season with the Jets, has a base salary of $2.5 million.

Boyd, previously with the Minnesota Vikings and having also played for the Arizona Cardinals and Houston Texans, signed with the Jets on a $1.6 million deal but has been on injured reserve since injuring his shoulder earlier this season.

The New York City Police Department has yet to make any arrests related to the shooting, but they have released images of a possible suspect captured on surveillance footage.

Two luxury vehicles, a BMW X6 SUV and a silver Mercedes-Benz Maybach, sped away from the scene. However, authorities believe the shooter was not in either of those cars.

Photos taken at the location also show a Rhino GX, an expensive bulletproof SUV parked outside after police arrived.

The owners of Say Less have expressed that the establishment was not involved in the incident. In their statement, they mentioned that the altercation happened outside the restaurant after it had closed and that they’ve cooperated with law enforcement throughout the investigation.

“We prioritize the safety of our customers and staff,” they noted, expressing pride in providing a secure environment.

Say Less has been a hotspot for hip-hop icons and sports figures in Manhattan over the years.

The founder of the club, Dara Mirjahangiri, mentioned on “Good Morning America” that well-known rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs once surprised everyone with drinks during a visit to his home.

As of Monday, the New York Jets have not commented on whether Charles or Sherwood were present before Boyd was shot. Team representatives stated they are aware of the situation involving Boyd but have no further comments at this time.
