Jill Biden Assists at First White House Cabinet Meeting in Almost a Year

First Lady Jill Biden on Friday assisted President Joe Biden, 81, at the first White House Cabinet meeting in nearly a year, reportedly marking her first time attending such a meeting.

Biden will step down from the presidential race in January after slurring his words and failing to speak clearly about the challenges facing the country during a debate with former President Donald Trump. Republicans have been questioning who is running the country since the president dropped out of the race.

Rumor has it that Jill Biden doesn't want her husband to drop out of the race because the tax case against her son Hunter Biden has yet to be decided. A federal judge is scheduled to hand down the ruling in September before Biden leaves office, and Republicans believe Biden might pardon his son or commute his sentence.

Jill Biden attended the meeting and appeared to sit at the head of the table, sharing an update on the White House's research efforts on women's health.

The president also spoke briefly during the meeting. “I want to say a few words about the need for Congress to pass a continuing resolution,” he said, reading from a text message about government funding. “This is extremely important.”

“We need to continue to enforce the historic laws that we enacted,” Biden added. “Those laws allowed us to invest in America, rebuild our infrastructure, and enforce our historic laws.”

CNN Reported Regarding the Cabinet meeting:

It's been nearly a year since Biden last convened his Cabinet and just four months until the president-elect takes office, but Biden's position during Friday's meeting was significantly different from when he last spoke with senior officials.

He is no longer a presidential candidate and is now staring down the final months of his term. His abrupt withdrawal from the race over the summer prompted White House officials to scramble to put together an agenda for the final months of his term that had not been considered before his decision.

Biden wants to ensure the public knows what he has accomplished while making his legacy as difficult as possible to reverse in case former President Donald Trump returns to the Oval Office.
