First Lady Jill Biden President Trump met with families of US Olympic athletes on Thursday and spoke of a “united” America, a day after addressing the nation announcing his decision not to seek reelection.
Biden said: Summer Olympics In the coming weeks, she is expected to speak publicly for the first time since President Biden announced in a memo that he was ending his reelection campaign and endorsing Vice President Harris instead.

“When the U.S. team skates through tomorrow night’s opening ceremony, they don’t just carry our flag; they also carry the heart and hopes of our country,” Jill Biden said, accompanied by Denise Campbell Bower, the U.S. ambassador to France.

“They show the world who we are as Americans – determined, optimistic and tenacious. Our strength lies not just in our stride or swing, but in our hearts and spirits. Despite our valuable differences and endless similarities, we will always be one team. That’s what I love about our country – that we come together and can reach all possibilities together.”
“President Biden He has always led our country with that hope in his heart. … And as he said, together, there is nothing America can’t do. And we’re seeing that especially now with the Olympics.”
The first lady’s remarks came amid a tumultuous political climate in Washington.

Biden, 81, spoke publicly for the first time since the announcement on Wednesday.
“The past few weeks have made it clear to me that I need to unite my party on this important effort. I believed that my record as president, my leadership in the world, and my vision for America’s future all merited a second term. But nothing, nothing can stand in the way of saving our democracy,” Biden said.

“This includes personal ambition. So I’ve decided the best way to move forward is to pass the baton to a new generation. That’s the best way to unite our country. You see, there’s a time and a place for years of experience in public office. There’s a time and a place for new voices. Fresh voices. Yes, younger voices. And that time and place is now.”
Biden has outlined his plans for the remainder of his term, which include initiatives such as reforming the Supreme Court.
