Jill Biden Tries to Land Cameo Role on ‘Heated Rivals’
Jill Biden made headlines when she placed a significant bid of $35,000 for a cameo in Season 2 of “Heated Rivals.” However, her bid was ultimately topped by devoted fans of the show.
The former First Lady tried her hand at securing a walk-on role during the New York City LGBT Center’s annual Center Dinner Gala on Thursday night.
“Dr. Jill Biden is a surprise guest tonight and she just bid $35,000 for the walk-on role in Heated Rivalry Season 2!” former Teen Vogue Editor-in-Chief Varsha Sharma shared via tweet after the event.
In the end, Biden’s bid was overshadowed, as the final bid went up to $90,000.
Sharma noted, “The final winners each bid $125,000, raising a total of $250,000 for the center.”
Despite not winning, Biden seemed to take it in stride. She humorously remarked, “I don’t think I’ll go to the cottage after all, but it was worth a try!” and expressed enthusiasm for the festive night supporting the center.
That evening, Biden got on the dance floor as Mel C performed “Sweat,” joined by finalists from season 18 of “RuPaul’s Drag Race.”
Biden attended the gala as a surprise guest, reportedly alongside billionaire Tim Gill. It was mentioned that she wasn’t part of the program and didn’t take the stage, but her presence was celebrated with a standing ovation from the attendees.
She stayed for the entire event, mingling with others, although at one point, the Secret Service had to remind the crowd that it was time for her dinner.
Other notable guests included Brooks Brothers CEO Ken Chashi and his husband, former anchor Baruch Shemtov, and CBS News business analyst Jill Schelsinger. The gala also recognized several contributors to “Heated Rivals,” including creator Jacob Tierney and executive producer Brendan Brady.
Author Rachel Reid, whose work inspired the series, presented Tierney with the Cultural Impact Award during the evening.
The show “Heated Rivals,” featuring Hudson Williams and Connor Story as hockey rivals turned lovers, captures a unique romance on the ice.
Retreating from the limelight, the characters find solace in a secluded Ontario cottage, a location that fans can actually book through Airbnb. As it turns out, the episode was filmed at a lakeside cottage in Muskoka, with rental rates starting at approximately $181 USD per night.
Airbnb aimed to keep rental costs accessible, and intriguingly, the price combines the two hockey numbers of the main characters—24 and 81—tying into the show’s narrative.
Interestingly, Biden isn’t alone in her admiration for the show, as other stars like Pedro Pascal and Jon Hamm have also expressed their enthusiasm for the hockey love story, showcasing its reach and popularity.
