Jill Biden Speaks on Joe Biden’s Debate Performance

In a video interview released Wednesday, former first lady Jill Biden discussed her reaction to her husband Joe Biden’s notable debate performance during the 2024 election, expressing that she thought he might have been having a stroke.

The debate between Biden and former President Donald Trump became a pivotal moment in the election, as Biden appeared to struggle—stumbling over words, pausing for long stretches, and seeming quite confused. This led some of his supporters to publicly urge him to withdraw his candidacy.

When asked by a CBS host if she felt scared watching her husband during the debate, Jill expressed her fear, saying, “I wasn’t scared, I was… Because I’ve never seen Joe like that before or since.” She reiterated that despite Joe’s age, she has never observed him in a similar state of confusion.

The interviewer pressed, wondering about what had occurred that night. Jill’s reply was tinged with distress: “I mean, when I saw that, I thought, ‘Oh my God, he’s having a stroke,’ and I was scared to death.”

Interestingly, during the debate’s afterparty, Jill presented a very different demeanor. She warmly celebrated Joe’s performance in front of a live audience, stating, “Joe, you really did a great job! You answered all the questions and knew all the facts!” This affirmation drew both laughs and critiques, as many felt it set an exceptionally low bar for praise.

Some commentators highlighted the peculiarity of her compliments, suggesting they reflected a tone more suited to praising a child than an experienced politician. Despite the public scrutiny, Jill’s support for Joe remains evident, though it raises questions about the challenges they navigate as a couple in the political arena.
