Bernal in the Hot Seat Over Biden’s Health
Anthony Bernal, a key adviser to Lady Jill Biden, seems intent on dodging questions related to her office’s handling of the former president’s cognitive decline. This situation is spiraling, as concerns grow over potential concealment.
He participated in a voluntary, transcribed interview with the House Oversight Committee on June 26. This move effectively sacrifices executive privilege, meaning Bernal must provide lawmakers with information, including unlimited testimony.
Bernal’s influence is noted widely. He has been described as a vital player in Biden’s administration, often called part of a powerful inner circle by various media sources.
Representative James Comer, the committee’s chair, has made it clear that there’s a pressing need to understand whether Bernal played a role in hiding the former president’s ability to serve from the public.
Given his prominent role, it’s possible he was privy to information that could shed light on Biden’s aging and cognitive issues. Earlier in the year, David Hogg, a figure from the Democratic National Committee, alluded to Bernal’s substantial power.
Notably, a week after Dr. Kevin O’Connor, Biden’s physician, failed to answer a question on the subject—citing the Fifth Amendment—concerns about the potential misuse of authority come to the forefront.
Interestingly, a recent report suggested that enforcement actions taken during Biden’s presidency might be affected by his cognitive decline. Bernal’s reliance on the Fifth Amendment signals a desire to protect himself from possible criminal implications.
Biden confirmed using an autopen to sign documents, claiming it was necessary due to a busy schedule, which raised eyebrows regarding how decisions were really being made.
Comer pressed Bernal on whether anyone, elected or not, had performed presidential duties, and if the president had asked him to misrepresent his health. It sounds significant, right?
This raises its own questions about transparency and accountability. Comer emphasized the importance of uncovering the truth in this situation.
Rep. Byron Donald voiced concerns, pointing out that both Bernal and the White House doctors choosing to stay silent highlights troubling aspects of the administration, suggesting corruption.
If it turns out Biden isn’t directing his own administration, Donald insisted that all actions taken by his office could essentially be deemed invalid.
As other insiders prepare to testify, it remains uncertain whether they’ll opt for the Fifth Amendment as well. Bernal’s upcoming testimony is particularly awaited, with several key witnesses scheduled in the weeks ahead.
