Jimmy Fallon and James Corden Surprise Guests with Impromptu Performance
Jimmy Fallon and James Corden delivered an unexpected show in a well-known venue in New York City. After dining with Lorne Michaels at Emilio’s Ballato, the duo “took the stage in a secret bar in the back” of the restaurant, as a witness shared with Page Six.
A source noted, “The Eric Newman Jazz Band was performing, and then Fallon and Corden started singing classic tunes by Sinatra and Tony Bennett!”
Word has it that Corden, 47, currently starring in Art on Broadway alongside Bobby Cannavale and Neil Patrick Harris, “absolutely nailed it with ‘My Way,’ and then Jimmy followed up with his smooth rendition of ‘I Left My Heart in San Francisco.’”
Fallon, 51, who hosts “The Tonight Show,” has a history of paying homage to Bennett. Earlier in 2023, he made a surprise appearance on “The Voice,” wearing a fake beard and sunglasses while humming one of Bennett’s songs.
Coaches were notably moved, with John Legend expressing, “I got emotional!” during that performance.
(Bennett, who passed away in 2023 at the age of 96, has left a lasting legacy.)
Corden is recognized for his renditions of Sinatra classics as well. In 2017, he created a revised version of “LOVE” to protest against the ban on transgender military service. He also sang Sinatra’s “Me and My Shadow” in a duet with Stephen Colbert aired in 2015.
The private back room of the renowned restaurant has seen a variety of celebrity gatherings over the years, with notable guests like Rihanna, Brad Pitt, and Leonardo DiCaprio. Taylor Swift has also enjoyed nights out there with friends like Blake Lively and Sophie Turner, especially following the Game of Thrones star’s split from Joe Jonas, who has his own connections to the venue.
