Shooting Incident at Jimmy John’s in St. Louis

A dispute that erupted at a Jimmy John’s restaurant in St. Louis culminated in a 14-year-old girl being shot in the leg. An employee of the restaurant now faces charges for allegedly firing at a vehicle that contained the teen, according to police and court records.

The girl was injured shortly before 6 p.m. on Saturday at the intersection of Vandeventer and Laclede avenues. She was taken to a local hospital, where her condition was reported as stable, as noted by the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department on X.

Authorities have named 27-year-old Adam White as the suspected shooter. He is said to have been working at the Jimmy John’s where the incident transpired.

White faces charges including first-degree assault, armed criminal action, unlawful use of a weapon, and first-degree child endangerment, among other serious offenses.

The police stated that the shooting followed a disagreement involving the girl’s mother and several individuals connected to the restaurant on Laclede. “A preliminary investigation suggests the confrontation was related to a conflict with the girl’s mother. The nature of her connection to the restaurant is still under investigation,” the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department said.

According to the investigation, the girl’s mother brought her to the restaurant along with her boyfriend. Their situation escalated, leading to gunfire.

Court documents allege that a verbal altercation occurred between White and a former employee, which eventually moved to the parking lot.

As the former employee, her boyfriend, and her daughter attempted to leave in their vehicle, White reportedly fired multiple shots at the car, hitting the girl in her left leg.

“As they drove off, the defendant fired multiple rounds into the rear of the vehicle. The juvenile victim was struck by one of the bullets,” court documents indicate.

Investigators observed ballistic damage on the vehicle’s trunk.

Documents reveal that White initially fled the scene but returned later and was arrested. After being read his rights, he allegedly confessed to firing at the car, mentioning that he had left the weapon at his residence.

A judge has ordered that White be held without bond as he awaits trial.
