Jimmy Kimmel Critiques Republicans and Trump
During his monologue on Monday, Jimmy Kimmel took aim at the Republican Party and former President Donald Trump.
Tragically, Charlie Kirk was killed on September 10 at a university lecture event in Utah. On the September 15 episode of “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”, Kimmel challenged the assertions surrounding Kirk’s death, suggesting that he was murdered by someone with similar beliefs.
“This is not how adults grieve the loss of someone they called a friend,” Kimmel stated emphatically.
He delivered a critical view, saying, “We hit some new lows over the weekend.” Kimmel alleged that Kirk’s murderers are linked to the Make America Great Again movement.
Kimmel expressed frustration over what he perceives as an attempt to downplay the actions of Kirk’s alleged murderer, telling viewers, “The Magagang is desperately trying to redefine the killer’s identity, twisting this tragedy into political capital.”
Tyler Robinson has been named as a suspected assassin. According to a conversation revealed between Robinson and his roommates, there were indications that Kirk believed he was spreading “hate,” and had commented that “hate cannot be negotiated.”
Interestingly, reports note that Robinson’s roommate is transgender, and it has been suggested that the two were involved romantically, as noted by Utah County Attorney Jeff Gray.
Furthermore, the bullet casing associated with the shooting reportedly bore a left-wing message, indicating some ideological connection.
Kimmel continued his critique, particularly targeted at Trump, suggesting the former president failed to adequately mourn his friend. “The White House chose to lower the flag to half-staff on Friday,” he mentioned, while also acknowledging the backlash this decision received. Yet, he hinted that Trump was complicating the situation.
In a segment, Kimmel played footage of Trump responding to a reporter’s question about how he was coping since Kirk’s death. Trump’s response seemed dismissive, stating, “I think it’s very good, and by the way, you can see all the trucks there. They just started building a new ballroom for the White House.”
This prompted Kimmel to joke about it, remarking that “stage 4 of sadness is construction, demolition, and more construction.” Kimmel’s tongue-in-cheek comparison continued, quipping, “This isn’t how adults handle grief; it feels more like how a four-year-old would lament a lost goldfish.”
In a response to Kimmel’s comments, Newsbusters editor Curtis Houck criticized the host, claiming he often sidesteps facts to berate opponents. Houck argued that Kimmel seems more concerned with earning laughs from like-minded peers than engaging with the reality of such serious issues.
In a final note, ABC, the network airing Kimmel’s show, was reached out to for comments regarding the host’s remarks but did not respond.
