JJ McCarthy and his wife shared a meaningful moment on the sidelines before the Giants' standout performance.

J.J. McCarthy shared a touching moment with his wife just before his first real chance with the Giants.

As he prepared for Sunday’s game against the Saints at MetLife Stadium, McCarthy was seen exchanging a kiss and a hug with his wife, Katya, on the sidelines.

Katya, dressed casually in jeans and a Giants sweatshirt, complete with sunglasses, was all smiles in a video she posted on her Instagram story.

“Love you❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥,” she captioned the video.

The couple, who tied the knot in April, faced a few challenges early in the NFL season after McCarthy was traded to the Giants from the Vikings in September.

This came after Jaxson Dart underwent knee surgery due to a meniscus tear, MCL tear, and PCL damage, prompting the Giants to consider back-up Jameis Winston and to look for help beyond their roster.

McCarthy, at 23, was brought on board in exchange for a fifth-round draft pick in 2027.

After a tough rookie season in Minnesota, where he passed for 1,632 yards with 11 touchdowns but also 12 interceptions, the opportunity in New York allows McCarthy to demonstrate his abilities in a new environment.

Despite the Giants ultimately falling to the Saints 34-27, McCarthy nearly led a comeback in what turned out to be a strong fourth quarter performance.

Unfortunately, his final pass was incomplete, ending the Giants’ hopes.

He spearheaded three scoring drives, finishing the game with the second-highest fourth-quarter passing yards (243) by a non-starter in the past 25 seasons, according to ESPN.

Through this transition and much of his career, Katya has been a steadfast supporter since their high school days at Nazareth Academy in La Grange Park, Illinois.

After celebrating a national championship win with Michigan, McCarthy proposed to Katya on a beach in January 2024.

The pair welcomed their son, Rome Micah, in September 2025, before getting married in San José del Cabo, Mexico this year.

Even with the loss, it seems the McCarthys are enjoying their new surroundings. Katya later shared photos from a popular restaurant, The Corner Store, on Sunday.

She also spent some time at home during the game, posting a video of herself with Rome, who was watching the Giants game.

“Time to get back to my baby tho,” she wrote. “Cheering on dada.”

The Giants are set to travel to Houston in Week 7 before heading into their bye week.
