JJ Redick, Tyronn Lue floated as potential Lakers coaches

It appears there are at least two names to keep an eye on if the Lakers’ head coaching position becomes available.

According to ESPN’s Dave McMenamin, Durvin Ham’s job doesn’t seem particularly secure after the Lakers were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs by the Nuggets, and JJ Redick and Tyronn Lue are the two candidates being considered to replace him. It is said that it will be done.

McMenamin mentioned two people – one a 15-year NBA veteran and the other a veteran coach with an NBA ring to his name. Appearing on “The Dan Patrick Show”.

“If they open a coaching search, J.J. is certainly a real candidate,” McMenamin said. “But there’s probably about six guys there, including Tyronn Lue, who we just lost to the Mavericks last night. He has one year left on his contract. What’s going to happen with the Clippers contract? There’s going to be a process there where there’s going to be a number of potential candidates that will be interviewed.”

Text from Ham’s time with the Lakers is posted on the wall. Reported by Jovan Buha of The Athletic. Lakers’ “plans have not yet moved forward with Durbin,” the Lakers announced Thursday. [Ham] At some point, probably by the end of this week.”

Ham went 90-74 in his two seasons at the helm of the Lakers, but was said to have been “frustrated” with his coaching decisions during the season. According to a report from The Athletic.

Clippers head coach Tyronn Lue shouted to his players: AP

Lue would be a familiar face to replace Ham, especially if the Lakers want to keep LeBron James.

Lue, of course, coached James when he won the NBA title with Cleveland.

Redick’s name recently surfaced in connection with another coaching vacancy in Charlotte.
