JJ Watt Reflects on His Early Days During NFL Broadcast

During the NFL game on CBS between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Cleveland Browns, former player JJ Watt took a moment to look back on his past. The broadcast highlighted a photograph from his time as a Wisconsin Badger, specifically from Wisconsin Media Day in 2008. After transferring from Central Michigan, he was unable to play that season.

As commentator Ian Eagle asked Watt, “What the hell was going on?” Watt chuckled and replied, “Oh my god! I was overweight and had a weird situation going on with my beard. … I didn’t know how to tie a tie. I wear a chinstrap. That looks terrible. I have a lot of Mickey’s Dairy bars in me.”

Watt had a solid two-year stint with the Badgers, racking up 11.5 sacks across 26 games before entering the NFL Draft. He was selected 11th overall by the Houston Texans after the 2010 season.

He carved out a remarkable career with the Texans, becoming one of their all-time greats and is a strong candidate for future Hall of Fame induction.

His presence was felt in the CBS broadcast, especially with his new hairstyle this season, which was playfully dubbed “feathered and deadly.”

Meanwhile, in the game itself, Aaron Rodgers accumulated 235 passing yards and threw two touchdowns as the Steelers bested the Browns with a score of 23-9. Notable touchdowns were scored by DK Metcalf and Connor Heyward.
