JK Rowling splits HBO's John Oliver over her recent monologue about transgender athletes.
The “Harry Potter” author responded to the “Last Week Tonight” host's recent harsh attack on those who oppose transgender participation in women's sports. In his remarks, he claimed there is no evidence that biological male trans athletes have an advantage over biological females.
“The Harris campaign failed to develop a response, especially when it could so easily have been done,” Oliver said Friday. “There are very few transgender girls anywhere who compete in high school. Even if there were more, transgender kids are just as different in athletic ability as other kids, and they don't want to be safe or fair.” There's no evidence of any threat.”
Rowling described the rant as an example of “motivated reasoning and confirmation bias.”

“There's nothing to feel good about. John Oliver has generously given his time to my charity, Lumos, so when I met him I really liked him. But God knows, if you want an example of motivated reasoning and confirmation bias, this video is for you.'' I think it is, but I'm going to spew out some absolute bullsh*t to support that it's not. ” Rowling wrote on social media on Sunday..
She cited a United Nations report last month that found more than 600 biological women were denied medals in more than 400 competitions in 29 different sports due to transgender inclusion, for a total of more than 890 medals. I quoted the book.
Rowling also mentioned Peyton McNabb, a college student who suffered a concussion after being spiked by a trans player during a high school volleyball game.

“Time and time again, I've met men who use the exact same arguments to argue exactly what Oliver is doing here. Men who 'believe in science' say with a straight face, “The truth is, we still don't know enough data to show whether men and boys are stronger and faster than women and girls,'' the “Let's Be Kind'' staff say. I can't understand what the problem is. “Why bother? It only affects a small number of women,” she said. I wrote.
She calls Oliver one of the elite who “shamelessly stare into the camera and claim that the audience's eyeballs are incapable of seeing the mundane” in order to “prove their progressive credentials.” he accused.
“I want to tell the world that I am happy to see women suffer injuries, humiliation, and lose sporting opportunities in order to reinforce the elitist postmodern ideology held by a small percentage of the world's population. If so, that's perfectly acceptable. But if you're saying girls don't deserve fair sport, then you're ending the all-too-real sexual predation of young women. “Maybe you should reconsider using it as the punchline of a joke,” Rowling said.

HBO host Bill Maher also recently attacked Democrats, who up until the election had championed the idea of transgender athletes in women's sports.
“Talk about doubling down on what got you into it in the first place,” Maher said. “The only concession I heard was from some people on the losing side that liberals should stop saying Trump supporters are stupid, saying, “I know they're stupid. Just don't say it.'' I have bad news for you: They don't have a monopoly on fools.''
