Former President Joe Biden and his family unexpectedly visited the set of the action series “Reacher” on Monday morning.
CBS Philadelphia reported that Biden, along with his wife, Jill, and son, Hunter, surprised the cast and crew while they were filming a police chase in Philadelphia for the Amazon Prime show.
Local photographer Huge Dillon, who witnessed the scene unfold, mentioned he saw a black SUV arriving and initially thought the individuals getting out were actors. “Then the cast and crew started clapping and cheering,” Dillon noted. Someone shouted, “We love you, Joe, we love you!”
The report indicated that before the set visit, the former president had breakfast at a restaurant nearby called Parc. He took some time to meet and take pictures with various cast and crew members, including lead actor Alan Richson.
Dillon remarked on the cast and crew’s surprise at seeing Biden, saying, “It was just such a strange thing – I couldn’t quite wrap my head around it, and both of these things were unfolding at once.”
There was no clarity on whether Biden was aware that the show was filming outside the restaurant before he arrived. Biden’s office has been contacted for a comment on the matter.
Richson later shared his thoughts on the encounter via his Instagram account. He expressed, “So our Reacher set got in the way of these legends. It was a privilege and honor to meet the Biden family. They couldn’t have been nicer. We chatted about simple things like string theory and quantum entanglement. Then Joe challenged me to an arm-wrestling match.”
He also posted images and videos of his interactions with Biden and Hunter.
Richson has previously made comments regarding political issues, criticizing President Donald Trump’s Christian supporters in an interview with the Hollywood Reporter back in April 2024. He stated, “Trump’s a rapist and a con man, but the entire Christian church seems to treat him as a role model, which I find unrealistic.”
A month later, he mentioned facing “violence” for expressing these kinds of views. “If you want to avoid violence in the world, be more generous to everyone! That’s the essence of Christian ethics! What should be happening isn’t happening, and when I discuss it in my way, I’ve encountered violence,” Richson explained.
