While repeatedly voicing his support for President Biden, Bill Maher predicted that Biden would lose on Election Day, telling tech journalist Kara Swisher that former President Trump would likely garner enough support for a second term.
“I [Biden’s] “I’ve had my head stuck in a jar of blue liquid because of Donald Trump, but that doesn’t mean I’m — first of all, I don’t think there’s any debate at this point. He’s definitely going to lose,” Maher told Swisher. His podcast episode.
His most significant attack on Biden has been about his age. Maher said too many Democrats are ignoring concerns about the 81-year-old Biden’s mental and physical health.
But Swisher disagreed, arguing that a “silent majority” of Americans will support Biden when it matters most.
“We don’t want chaos again,” she said of Trump.
“Do I think what you’re saying is absolutely possible? Yes. Or it’s not possible, I don’t know the difference,” Maher replied, arguing that a “silent majority” of voters could support Trump.
“A shy Trump supporter is someone who is going to vote for Trump but doesn’t want it to be known because they think it’s a bit vulgar,” he said.
Biden and Trump are neck and neck in the polls this election, with Trump leading by about a point in The Hill/Decision Desk polling average, but Biden has a lead in surveys taken since Trump was convicted of 34 felony counts last week.
