Rep. Elissa Slotkin (D-Mich.), who is running for U.S. Senate in Michigan, told donors on Tuesday that private polls show former President Donald Trump leading President Joe Biden in Michigan.
“Right now, President Biden is behind President Trump in our polling and the Senate race is close,” Slotkin said on a video call with donors on Tuesday. The New York Times Obtained.
The Michigan Senate candidate also appeared to attack Biden, “sarcastically” saying that 74-year-old Sen. Debbie Stabenow (D-Mich.) was running for the vacant Michigan Senate seat only to “take a radical step and pass the baton.”
A spokesman for Slotkin declined to comment on the remarks.

Slotkin is expected to face former Rep. Mike Rogers, who has emerged as the Republican front-runner, according to an average of Michigan polls conducted by data-driven news site FiveThirtyEight. Toss-up In Michigan’s presidential election, Recent Opinion Polls Ms. Slotkin has a slight edge.
Many Democrats have called for Biden to step aside from the presidential race since his disastrous defeat in last month’s debate, but he has insisted he will remain the candidate despite concerns from Democrats in Michigan and beyond.
Left-wing panic is beginning to spread in other traditionally Democratic states, with one Democratic official saying New York has become a “battleground state.”
“We’re still operating as if this is a one-party state, and that’s been the case for almost 20, 25 years. I truly believe this is now a battleground state,” said Manhattan Borough President Mark Levine, a Democrat.
