Joe Biden says he isn’t surprised that Kamala Harris did not win the presidential election.

In his first televised interview after leaving the White House, former President Joe Biden stated that he “didn’t surprise” Kamala Harris in the 2024 election.

“I wasn’t surprised, not because I didn’t think the Vice President was the most qualified person to become president. She is,” he said during his appearance on ABC’s “The View.”

Biden suggested that if he hadn’t stepped down from the last presidential meeting, he would’ve prevailed in the election. “A lot of people didn’t show up,” he noted.

“I wasn’t surprised because they took the sexist approach, the whole angle. This is a woman, she’s this,” he remarked.

“I’ve never seen a successful, consistent campaign where women of diverse backgrounds truly overcome that perception,” he added.

“They managed to play it… pretty well,” Biden reflected. Following his comments, a host joked about his tendency to elaborate on topics when he had been asked not to.

The 46th President expressed his “deep disappointment” over the significant losses experienced by Democrats, asserting that “liberal democracy across America suffered” in recent elections.

“I think we’re really underestimating the major negative effects Covid had, and how the pandemic shifted people’s attitudes and overall optimism,” he emphasized.

Biden also shared that he “talks” with Harris “frequently” and recently discussed his views on issues related to identity.

When asked about rumors surrounding Harris’s potential run for California governor, Biden replied, “She has made a difficult decision regarding what she plans to do.”
