The Cowboys are 5-7 and playing with a backup quarterback and will likely miss the NFC playoffs.
But that doesn't mean one prominent sports broadcaster doesn't want to watch sports more often in prime time.
In fact, Joe Buck used to take them “every week.”
ESPN's Monday Night Football play-by-play announcer acknowledged the same thing this week. Dallas' appearance on 96.7 The Ticket.
The Cowboys will play the 4-8 Bengals on MNF this week, but this will be the second time this year that they have faced off on Monday after Dallas lost to the Texans in Week 11.
The Cowboys are a fixture in the national spotlight, especially on MNF, where he regularly plays multiple games, appearing in two games in the past two seasons and three in 2022.
Buck, who is partnering with former Cowboys quarterback Troy Aikman on the broadcast, said the team will be broadcast on Mondays because of the constant intrigue surrounding the team, even if the team isn't playing well. Even now, he said, ESPN's viewership will increase.
“We did it every week,” Buck said on the radio show. “I came to Dallas and enjoyed spending time in the wide area and being in the stadium and playing the Dallas Cowboys every week. They have the biggest stars in the NFL because they get a lot of attention. His name is Jerry Jones, and he gets people to watch him on TV.
Buck added that he enjoys going to Texas to call games at AT&T Stadium, seeing the extra juice every time the Cowboys play on the big stage.
“And Dallas had two home games, but I don't care how they did. I'm always excited to go to Dallas and watch them play and bring that into my headset.”
The Cowboys have no more “MNF” games left, but they do have a “Sunday Night Football” matchup scheduled for Dec. 22 against the Buccaneers.
Led by running back Rico Doodle's 112 yards and backup QB Cooper Rush's 195 yards through the air, the Cowboys defeated the Giants on Thanksgiving and stayed in the playoffs by a narrow margin.
NFL.com gives them only a 2 percent chance of making the postseason.
Nevertheless, star edge rusher Micah Person told Fox after the win that America shouldn't sleep on the Cowboys.
“I'll tell you right now, we're going,” he said.
